Publishing Industry Continues to Grow with Sales of Consumer ebooks rising by 134%

London, 1 May 2013 – The Publishers Association (The PA) Statistics Yearbook 2012 shows that total consumer ebook sales have continued to rise in 2012, by 134%, reaching £216 million.Total digital sales have risen by 66%, reaching £411 million, and total fiction digital sales went up by 149%, to £172 million.

PA welcomes new Regulations on Non-print Legal Deposit

The PA welcomes implementation of the new 2013 Regulations on 6 April, as the culmination of many years’ negotiation between publishers, legal deposit libraries and the government, following the Legal Deposit Libraries Act 2003, which extended for the first time the right of deposit libraries to claim deposit of electronic (“non-print”) publications, published in the UK.
